Our patchwork throw pillows are made of fine soft cotton, on which a beautiful patchwork is stitched using colorful recycled material. The fabric used for the patchwork are left over pieces from the batik cloth our small business owner uses to make shirts and blouses, also featured on this website. This low to no waste concept is what attracts our small business to promote even smaller cottage businesses in Sri Lanka and India. Patchwork or "pieced work" is a form of needlework that involves sewing together pieces of fabric into a larger design. The larger design is usually based on repeat patterns built up with different fabric shapes (which can be different colors). So each cushion is unique as no piece of cloth is the same, they are just stitched together to have the same pattern: a rooster, a tortoise or a baby elephant.
